The Perfect Indicator for All Markets

On-balance volume (OBV) is a proven-effective leading indicator that allows traders to spot turning points and valid signals across a wide variety of markets and time frames.

For the majority of technical analysts, volume plays an important role. Unfortunately, simply comparing one day’s volume to a three-month average will not tell you much about whether money is flowing in or out of a particular market or stock.

Summary Box: Stocks end a down week on an up note (AP)

SOUR NOTES: Troubling questions over Europe’s financial health and manufacturing in the U.S. weighed down stock prices for much of the day. Indexes rallied late in the afternoon Friday.

GOOGLE ME: Google jumped nearly 13 percent, the most of any stock in the Standard and Poor’s 500 index, after the company said its revenue hit a record last quarter. Google’s earnings pushed tech stocks in the S&P index broadly higher.

THE WEEK: Late gains trimmed the S&P 500′s weekly losses to 2.1 percent.

Sanofi’s Multaq under EU Review

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) recently announced that it is expanding the currently ongoing benefit-risk assessment of Sanofi-Aventis’ (SNY – Analyst Report) anti-arrhythmic medicine Multaq. The agency said that it intends to review the cardiovascular risk of Multaq.

The decision to expand the scope of the review follows Sanofi’s recent announcement regarding the discontinuation of the PALLAS study. On July 7, Sanofi had announced that it has discontinued the PALLAS phase IIIb trial which was being conducted in patients with permanent atrial fibrillation (AF).

Cloud computing is having your programs and data stored remotely on a server in another location, instead of on your own individual computer. As long as you have an Internet connection, you can have a cheap old computer and still take advantage of cloud computing. The servers of companies that provide this service represent the ‘clouds’, and those servers can be located anywhere.
